The End of Trimester 1

Wow, this trimester went by fast! The past few weeks have been busy and packed with a ton of exciting things. Thank you for all of your support with the fun projects and assignments we have been working on. Grades are being finalized and report cards will be sent digitally on Tuesday. The class has put in a lot of hard work over the past few weeks and it shows!

Our new class pet, Twyla, is adjusting to our classroom. Once we figured out her lighting needs and routine, she relaxed quite a bit. We will be adding another “job” to our classroom in the second trimester… Pet Caretaker! The class has been ready to get more involved in the routine of her care. It will be exciting to see the skills learned from this new responsibility.

November has been packed with Saint Reports, finishing up our novel study on Esperanza Rising (their suitcase projects were fantastic!), completing a writing unit, and now they are planning Thanksgiving Dinner! Many are surprised with the costs of items on the grocery ads, but are having a blast spending their imaginary money on a meal to remember. It has been entertaining listening in on their meal planning… I think you too will find some of the items they are purchasing hilarious and will be impressed by their creative meal planning! They are using their newly acquired math skills to add and multiply decimals to total up costs and will be using their writing skills to share a family recipe. A letter was sent home about this project that asks for your help! Talk to your child about this if they haven’t shared already.

Have a great weekend!
